This is what the booking system does with what you tell it. The bunkhouse's website has its own statement, here.

Cookies

When you start a booking we set one cookie, so that if you look at another page part way through, the Book button can pick up where you left off. It holds only the size of your group, your dates and the room you chose — nothing that names you — and it goes when you pay, or after two days. It is not used for anything else, and nothing is sent anywhere because of it.

The only others are the two that keep the bunkhouse's own staff signed in.

When you book

Booking online sends your name, email address, phone number if you give one, any note you write, and who is coming — the number of adults and children — to our booking system. We keep them to run the bunkhouse: to hold your beds, to email you about your stay, and to meet our legal obligations. We do not share them with anyone else and we do not send marketing.

Your card details never reach us. Payment is taken by Stripe, who hold the card and tell us only that it was paid and the last part of the number. If a balance is due later, Stripe keeps the card for that one charge, which we describe to you before you agree to it.

The confirmation email carries a private link to your booking. Anyone with that link can see and change the booking, so keep it to yourself.

We keep a copy of every email we send you, so we can see what you were told if you ask.

How long we keep it

A year after you leave, your name, email address, phone number, note and the copies of your emails are removed automatically, and we ask Stripe to delete the customer record it made for your card. Stripe keeps its own record of each payment, as it is obliged to. What is left is the stay itself — the dates, the rooms, the group size and the money — which we keep for our accounts and for the tax records we are obliged to hold. That record no longer names you.

Asking us

To ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it removed sooner, email hello@example.com. We can remove your details from a past booking at once. If you have a complaint you cannot settle with us, you can raise it with the Information Commissioner's Office.
